Qu’avons-nous à apprendre de la prose générative d’un bot informatique?
Le pari lancé par le collectif Disnovation.org consiste à déléguer à la machine la production de concepts artistiques. L’algorithme derrière Predictive Art Bot suit les tendances émergentes parmi les sources d’information les plus influentes, puis identifie et combine des mots-clés de leurs grands titres pour en générer de nouveaux. Le site se présente ainsi comme un diptyque: un fil d’actualités médiatiques se déploie à gauche alors que les tentatives du bot sont formulées à droite. L’absurdité de l’actualité rivalise souvent avec celle des créations générées. Grâce au compte Twitter @predartbot lié au projet, les internautes peuvent relayer les concepts dans les réseaux.

What can we learn from the generative prose of a computer bot?
With Predictive Art Bot, the collective Disnovation.org tackles the challenge of delegating the production of artistic concepts to a machine. The algorithm behind the project follows emerging trends among the most influential sources of information, then identifies and combines keywords from their headlines to generate new ones. The website is thus presented as a diptych: a media news feed unfolds on the left while the bot's attempts are formulated on the right. The absurdity of the news often competes with the outlandish concepts generated. Through the Twitter account @predartbot, users can relay them across networks.
L’œuvre parodie les pièges à clics qui pullulent sur le web et les stratégies prospectives qui ont pris d’assaut nos imaginaires. Predictive Art Bot porte à réfléchir à l’utilisation grandissante des algorithmes dans tous les domaines, en particulier celui de l’art. Elle révèle également que l’automatisation peut être un vecteur de stimulation pour la créativité humaine.

The work parodies click bait that abounds on the web and the predictive strategies that have contaminated our imaginations. Predictive Art Bot leads us to reflect on the growing use of algorithms in all fields, especially in art. It also reveals that automation can be a vector of stimulation for human creativity.
