Elizabeth « Biz » Nijdam est professeure adjointe en Études allemandes au Département des Études d'Europe centrale, orientale et septentrionale à l’Université de la Colombie Britannique à Vancouver, Canada. De plus, elle est titulaire d’une bourse postdoctorale du CRSH à l’Université de Waterloo. Elle y travaille sur le manuscrit de son livre intitulé Paneled Pasts: History, Media, and Memory in the German Graphic Novel (sous contrat avec l'Ohio State University Press). Les intérêts de recherche de Biz incluent la représentation de l’Histoire dans les bandes-dessinées, l’étude des bandes-dessinées et des médias qui concernent la migration et la bande-dessinée comme méthodologie féministe; sujet de son prochain ouvrage (sous contrat avec la maison d’édition Routledge). En plus d’avoir fondé le premier groupe d’étude sur la bande-dessinée à l’Université du Michigan, ainsi que le Transnational Comics Studies Workshop, Biz occupait le poste de secrétaire et maintenant de trésorière du comité exécutif du International Comic Arts Forum en plus d’être présidente du caucus des étudiants aux études supérieures du Comics Studies Society. Elizabeth "Biz" Nijdam, is an Assistant Professor in German Studies in the Department of Central, Eastern, and Northern European Studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. She is also a SSHRC postdoctoral fellow at the University of Waterloo, working on her book manuscript Paneled Pasts: History, Media, and Memory in the German Graphic Novel (under contract with Ohio State University Press). Biz’s research interests include the representation of history in comics, comics and media on migration, and comics as a feminist methodology, which is the subject of her next book project under contract with Routledge. In addition to founding the University of Michigan’s first comics studies working group, the Transnational Comics Studies Workshop, Biz was formerly Secretary and is now Treasurer for the Executive Committee of the International Comic Arts Forum and President of the Comics Studies Society's Graduate Student Caucus. Her recent publications include articles in The Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics, ImageText, World Literature Today and International Journal of Comic Art, and chapters in Class, Please Open Your Comics (2015) and Comics of the New Europe: Intersections and Reflections with University of Leuven Press and the forthcoming edited volumes Routledge Companion to Gender and Sexuality in Comic Book Studies, edited by Frederick Aldama, and Comic Art and Feminism in the Baltic Sea region: Transnational Perspectives, also by Routledge.
